More comprehension of Consciousness
Universal and Personal Consciousness – Manly P. Hall
Who is Manly P. Hall?
Manly Palmer Hall (March 18, 1901 – August 29, 1990) was a Canadian-born author, lecturer, astrologer and mystic. He is best known for his 1928 work “The Secret Teachings of All Ages”. Over his 70 year career, he gave thousands of lectures and published over 150 volumes.
There are a new group of initiates about to show that need to get up to speed quickly. I consider this lecture by Manly P. Hall to be particularly timely although he gave it decades ago. Understanding Universal Truths are timeless so we’ll begin with Consciousness. So here is Manly in his own words helping us comprehend the metaphysical side of humans.
#Consciousness
“It’s been said that the history of the study of consciousness- is the history of religion, philosophy and science. That these fields all depend finally – on the gradual unfoldment of concepts concerning the power to know, the means by which knowledge is attained and all the other ramifications by which reason and judgment can be derived from experiences of awareness.”
Manly P. Hall – Universal and Personal Consciousness
Define the term consciousness:
“Apparently the term consciousness is most generally used to cover the field which we term awareness. It is a power or a faculty by which we are aware. By awareness we mean awake-ness. We mean that these faculties are in a position or in a condition to accept the stimuli that may come to them from a variety of sources external or internal.
Awareness therefore, is the state of being in the presence of a recognized phenomenon of some kind. We are aware of things around us.”
Is Man aware of the fact that he is aware?
Awareness was an acceptance – the individual turned his attention from one thing to another and accepted into his nature, the testimonies of his senses – things seen, heard, touched flow into him. But he was not aware of himself in relationship to these things.
